Meet Ben Robinson, our Principal Sales Executive at Swag Pack. With nearly eight years at the company, Ben brings experience in creative solutions, problem-solving, and client relationship management.
What does an average day look like for you?
My day starts around 7am, getting myself and my 15-month-old daughter Amelie ready. After dropping her off with family, I head to the office for 8am – starting with coffee, of course! Mornings are about planning: reviewing overnight emails (especially from our US clients), structuring the day’s quotes, and scheduling client calls and meetings.
I connect with clients in the morning to check they’re happy with previous projects and discuss upcoming needs. Lunchtime, I’ll go for a stroll if the weather’s nice. Afternoons are typically focused on preparing quotes for new enquiries, researching potential clients, and engaging on LinkedIn.
Before heading home, I’ll have a quick handover with our US clients to manage ongoing projects.
On the way home, I’ll pick up Amelie and walk our two dogs (Digby and Maggie). Then it’s dinner, bath, and bedtime for Amelie.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy the problem-solving aspect with clients. The more complicated or unusual the project, the better! I love handling challenging specs, projects with many moving parts, or last-minute jobs. Something about the intensity and pressure of these situations brings out my best work.
I love that clients can approach me with almost any request, and I need to figure out how we’ll deliver it – working through all the moving pieces to create a solution that works.
What inspires you about branding, print and creative solutions when working with your clients?
What we do makes people feel something – whether it’s prospects, clients, employees, or just people passing by. When done well, our work creates an emotional response, whether happiness, curiosity, or prompting them to take action.
Creating something that makes people feel good through thoughtful design, strong branding, and quality products is powerful. That emotional connection drives our creative process and keeps the work meaningful.
What are the most promising trends or innovations that you expect to shape your industry in the future?
Sustainability remains important in our product offerings, and we’re seeing shifts in how companies approach their environmental commitments.
We’re also noticing changes in how organisations handle employee engagement and company culture. While some companies are scaling back diversity and inclusion initiatives or employee benefits – influenced by certain political developments across the pond – this creates questions about long-term impacts on workforce morale, creativity, and productivity.
Ultimately, employee engagement is fundamental to business success. Companies that prioritise creating positive working environments see better results from their teams. How businesses navigate these workforce trends will likely influence the type of projects and campaigns they want to develop.
What’s been your most interesting project to work on?
One of my favourite projects was for Tinder through a marketing agency. We created materials for their activation at the All Points East festival, printing iridescent uniforms, bum bags, visors, and various merchandise items. We turned everything around in just a few weeks and delivered to the festival gates.
It was even more challenging because Tinder also had a sister festival in Australia, so we had to replicate everything for the other side of the world. It involved working at all hours and solving some complex international logistics. I had to find a same-day courier in Australia to collect items from the airport and deliver them to the venue.
The campaign’s creative nature and logistical challenges made it unforgettable – it’s exactly the project I love tackling.
What do you get up to outside of work?
Outside work, life revolves around family time, walking our two dogs (a Vizsla and a German Shorthaired Pointer), and trips in our camper van.
Last year, while on parental leave, we took quite an adventure – travelling through France, Italy and Switzerland in the camper van with our two dogs and Amelie, who was just eight months old. It was cosy with all five of us in there, but absolutely brilliant!
We’re already planning this summer’s road trip. We’re thinking of taking the ferry to Spain, then travelling through Andorra, France (with a week at a beachside campsite in St Tropez), and spending more time exploring Switzerland.
